[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic агнѧ (agnę), ꙗгнѧ (jagnę), from Proto-Slavic *agnę, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂egʷn-, the stem of *h₂egʷnós. Cognates include Ukrainian ягня́ (jahnjá).
