[edit]From Proto-Turkic *ẹri- (“id.”). Cognate with Azerbaijani ərimək, Kazakh еру (eru), Kyrgyz эрүү (erüü), Yakut ир (ir, “to melt”), Turkmen eremek, Tuvan эриир (eriir), Uzbek erimoq.
