[edit]Inherited from Bulgar حرح (xırıx, “forty”),[1] itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *kïrk (“forty”).[2][3]
Cognate with Khalaj qırq, Turkish kırk, Uzbek qirq and Bashkir ҡырҡ (qırq).
