From action name *tïŋla-ɣu, from Proto-Turkic *tïŋla- (“to listen”).[1]

Cognate with Old Turkic 𐱃𐰃𐰭𐰞𐰀 (tïŋla-, “to listen”), Karakhanid تِنْكْلاماقْ (tïŋlāmāq, “to listen”), Old Uyghur tynklʾmʾq (tïŋlamaq, “to listen”), Kazakh тыңдау (tyñdau), Turkish dinlemek (“to listen”), etc.
