Bulgarian

[edit]Cognate with Macedonian трап (trap), Serbo-Croatian тра̏п, most likely from Proto-Slavic *torpъ (rather than *trapъ). Further cognate with Lithuanian tárpas (“gap, interval”).
Unrelated to English trap or Ancient Greek τράπεζα (trápeza, “table, tripod”) (whence Bulgarian тра́пеза (trápeza, “repast”) → трапе́ц (trapéc, “trapezoid”)).
