From Proto-Slavic *tepati, an intensive/iterative variant of Proto-Slavic *tepti.

те́пам (tépam) first-singular present indicativeimpf (perfective те́пвам)

  1. (transitive) to stomp (with foot or with a bat)
  2. (transitive) to beat, to bash, to thrust
  3. (transitive) to tuck, to thicken wool/cotton/flax
    Synonym: плъстя (plǎstja)
  4. (reflexive with се) to be processed, treated (for a material)
    Synonym: обработвам (obrabotvam)
