Etymology

From Proto-Mordvinic *siŕə, possibly inherited from Proto-Finno-Ugric *serä (“old, aged”) and cognate with Hungarian öreg (“old”). Ultimately may be of Indo-Iranian origin.

     But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.
