Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish سودی (sevdi), third-person singular past definite indicative of سومك (sevmek) (Turkish sevmek (to love)), used as a participle in Serbo-Croatian. Akin to севда̀лӣнка, севда̀лија, севда̀лук, сѐвда̄х, сѐвдисати.
