[edit]Probably inherited from Old Belarusian робѧ (robja). Compare with Russian ребёнок (rebjónok) and Old Polish robionek.

Usage notes
[edit]- The singular form can only refer to "child" / "baby" sense.
- The plural form рабя́ты (rabjáty) can mean "guys", "friends", etc.
- For the plural form "children" дзе́ці (dzjéci) is the preferred word but рабя́ты (rabjáty) is also used.
- The suppletive plural form дзе́ці (dzjéci) is originally a plural form of дзіця́ (dzicjá) or дзіцё (dzicjó) and is of native origin.
