[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic православие (pravoslavije), from Old Church Slavonic православиѥ (pravoslavije), a calque of Ancient Greek ὀρθοδοξῐ́ᾱ (orthodoxíā). By surface analysis, правый (pravyj) + -о- (-o-) + слава (slava) + -їє (-ije).
