[edit]Inherited from Old Ruthenian пыха, пиха (pyxa, pixa), from Old Polish pycha, from Old Czech pýcha, deverbal from Old Czech pýchati, from Proto-Slavic *pyxati (“to puff”).[1] For an identical development compare Ukrainian наду́тий (nadútyj), Russian надме́нный, наду́тый (nadménnyj, nadútyj).
