[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic патока (patoka), equivalent to па- (pa-, “later, secondary”) + тока (toka), feminine form of токъ (tokŭ, “flow”). Cognate to Russian па́тока (pátoka). Related to цячы́ (cjačý).
