Etymology

Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish پرتل (partal, worn-out cloth), a -lı derivative of Classical Persian پارچه (pārča, piece, part). Displaced Bulgarian пъртищ (pǎrtišt), which is cognate with the Persian lemma.
