[edit]From Proto-Iranian *snauša-, a secondary form beside *snuša-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *snušás, from Proto-Indo-European *snusós.
The similar forms in Caucasian languages are probably related. See them in Mingrelian ნოსა (nosa).
