[edit]Inherited from Old Ruthenian надзвычайный (nadzvyčajnyj). By surface analysis, над- (nad-) + звы́чай (zvýčaj) + -ны (-ny). Cognate with Polish nadzwyczajny and Ukrainian надзвича́йний (nadzvyčájnyj).
