[edit]Derived from мрі́ти (mríty, “to be barely visible”, verb). Compare Belarusian мро́я (mrója).

Usage notes
[edit]мрі́я denotes a figment of the waking imagination such as a fantasy of a desired future or alternative reality, whereas сновиді́ння (snovydínnja, “dream”) denotes the involuntary manifestation of scenes in the mind during sleep.
