[edit]From Old East Slavic мѣстьце (městĭce), мѣстце (městce), from Proto-Slavic *městьce, from *město (“place, town”) + *-ьce. Equivalent to ме́ста (mjésta) + -ца (-ca).
Cognate with Ukrainian мі́сце (mísce), Polish miejsce.
