Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic лиходѣй (lixoděj), from лихо (lixo, bad) + дѣꙗти (dějati, to do), from Proto-Slavic *lixodějь. By surface analysis, ли́хо (líxo, evil) +‎ -о- (-o-) +‎ -дей (-dej, doer).
