Etymology

From Proto-Slavic *kъrzъ, *(s)krozě. Cognate with Serbo-Croatian кро̏з, Ukrainian крізь (krizʹ), Czech krz, Slovak kroz. Old Church Slavonic скрозѣ (skrozě) probably results from a confluence of кръз (krǎz) with synonymous скво́зе (skvóze).
