[edit]Borrowed from Greek κρεβάτι (kreváti), probably ultimately from Ancient Macedonian *γράβος (grabos, “oak”). If correct, then related to native Bulgarian га́бър (gábǎr, “hornbeam”) (reanalyzed from an earlier *grabrъ).
