Uncertain. Ultimately, either derived from Lithuanian kišenė, or from Persian کیسه (kisa). Cognate with Belarusian кішэ́нь (kišénʹ), Polish kieszeń, dialectal Slovak kišeň, kyšeň, and Ukrainian кише́ня (kyšénja).
