Etymology

Inherited from Old Ruthenian керовати (kerovati), from Polish kierować, from German kehren, From Middle High German kēren, from Old High German kēran or cherren.[1] With -ува́ти (-uváty) suffix. Cognate with Belarusian кірава́ць (kiravácʹ).
