[edit]From *qadїn-ana ~ *qadїn-ene "mother-in-law", from Proto-Turkic *kādɨn (“in-law”) + Proto-Turkic *eńe / *ana (“mother”).
Cognate with Bashkir ҡәйнә (qəynə), Crimean Tatar qaynana, Uzbek qaynana, Uyghur قېينىنا (qëynina), Turkmen gaýynene, Turkish kaynana, Azerbaijani qayınana, Khakas хазине (xazine, “mother-in-law”), etc.
