Etymology

Inherited from Old Slovak zubatý. By surface analysis, зуб (zub) +‎ -ати (-ati). Cognates include Belarusian зуба́ты (zubáty), Czech and Slovak zubatý, Lower Sorbian zubaty, Polish zębaty, Serbo-Croatian зубат / zubat and Ukrainian зуба́тий (zubátyj).
