[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak hrozno, possibly from Proto-Slavic *grozdъ. Cognate with Slovak hrozno.
Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]грозно (hrozno) n (diminutive гроженко, related adjective грознов)
- (collective) grapes
- виново грозно ― vinovo hrozno ― wine grapes
Usage notes
[edit]- Only used in the singular. This may be due to grammatical influence from Serbo-Croatian грожђе, although it also occurs in Slovak hrozno. A singular grape is expressed as бобка грозна (bobka hrozna), or the less common гроженко (hroženko) which usually denotes "raisin" instead.
