[edit]From Old Belarusian готовый (hotovyj), from Old East Slavic готовыи (gotovyi), from Proto-Slavic *gotovъ, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *gatawas, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷeh₂-. Cognate with Russian гото́вый (gotóvyj).
