[edit]From Old Belarusian весь (vesʹ), from Old East Slavic вьсь (vĭsĭ), from Proto-Slavic *vьsь. Diminutive of весь (vjesʹ, “village (dated)”) + -ка (-ka). Cognates include Polish wioska.
