[edit]Inherited from Old Ruthenian веремѧ (veremja, “time”), from Proto-Slavic *vermę. Compare Bulgarian вре́ме (vréme), Macedonian вре́ме (vréme), Slovene vréme. Doublet of вре́м'я (vrémʺja), borrowed from Church Slavonic.
