Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish بوزطوغان (bozdoğan, iron war-mace). Cognate with Macedonian боздоган (bozdogan, mace), Hungarian buzogány (mace), Polish buzdygan (mace), Romanian buzdugan (mace), Serbo-Croatian буздован (mace), etc.
