Apparently borrowed from Yiddish [Term?] (suitor, boyfriend, lady's man). Further etymology uncertain.

  • In the past, it was used disparagingly especially by parents to describe lovers or boyfriends of their children who for example would crash weddings and other events in a crass manner.
