[edit]By surface analysis, авги́еви (avgíevi, “Augean”, plural of авги́ев (avgíev)) + обо́ри (obóri, “stables”, plural of обо́р (obór)).
The cleaning of king Augeas's dirty stables was one of the 12 labors of Hercules; see Augean stables#Etymology for more.
