[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic Черно́бꙑль (Černóbylĭ), Чьрно́бꙑль (Čĭrnóbylĭ), from черно́бꙑль (černóbylĭ), чьрно́бꙑль (čĭrnóbylĭ, “mugwort”), from Proto-Slavic *čьrnobylь. Cognate with Russian Черно́быль (Černóbylʹ).
