From Снегу́рка (Snegúrka, Snow Maiden, from снег (sneg, snow) +‎ -у́рка (-úrka, a rare diminutive suffix for females)) +‎ -ка (-ka); compare дочу́рка (dočúrka), diminutive of дочь (dočʹ, daughter).
