[edit]- Ку́ив (Kúiv)
Etymology
[edit]Possibly from English Kyiv, the transliteration of Ukrainian Ки́їв (Kýjiv), as the Latin letter wye (y) looks like the Cyrillic letter u (у).
Alternatively from similarity with the vulgar word ху́ев (xújev), if not influenced by both.(Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
