φάλκης
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The word has been connected with φάλαγξ (phálanx, “trunk; beam”), Latin falx (“scythe”) and φάλκη (phálkē). According to Beekes, the word may well be from Pre-Greek. For the latter possibility, compare also ἄφλᾰστον (áphlaston).
