[edit]From τῑμωρός (tīmōrós, “avenging, avenger”) + -έω (-éō, denominative verbal suffix), a contraction of τῑμάορος (tīmáoros), from τῑμή (tīmḗ, “honour”) + ὁράω (horáō, “to see”).
