Etymology 1
[edit]Frisk compares ταργάναι (targánai), σαργάνη (sargánē) and even ταρσός (tarsós), but these comparisons are useless. Furnée compares δάρπη (dárpē), which would point to a Pre-Greek word. Has also been connected with Old Armenian թարփ (tʻarpʻ).
