[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *sperǵʰ- (“to move energetically, hurry, spring”), the same root of Sanskrit स्पृहयति (spṛháyati, “to be eager”), Proto-Germanic *springaną (“to burst forth”) and Lithuanian spreñgti (“to push (in)”).
