πλάθανον
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *pleth₂-, with laryngeal aspiration. Beekes claims that it is Pre-Greek, and related to πλάσσω (plássō, “to mold, shape”).
Pronunciation
[edit]- (5th BCE Attic) IPA(key): /plá.tʰa.non/
- (1st CE Egyptian) IPA(key): /ˈpla.tʰa.non/

- (10th CE Byzantine) IPA(key): /ˈpla.θa.non/
- (15th CE Constantinopolitan) IPA(key): /ˈpla.θa.non/
Mark the vowel length of the ambiguous vowel ά by adding a macron after it if it is long, or a breve if it is short. By default, Module:grc-pronunciation assumes it is short if unmarked.
