[edit]Maybe related to Armenian մունջ (munǰ, “mute”) and thus from Proto-Indo-European *mundyo- and cognate with Ancient Greek μύδος (múdos), μυκός (mukós), μυττός (muttós, “dumb”), Latin mutus and Sanskrit मूक (mūka, “dumb”).
