[edit]From Proto-Hellenic *mḗron, of uncertain ultimate origin. Maybe from Proto-Indo-European *mḗms, *mēms-rom (“flesh”). Compare Latin membrum (“limb”) and Proto-Germanic *mimzą (“flesh”).
