Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἀναχανιάζω (anakhaniázō) -also form ἀχανιάζω (akhaniázō),[1] with deletion of initial unstressed vowel and dissimilation of /n-n/ > /l-n/. from the Hellenistic use of Ancient Greek ἀναχαίνω (anakhaínō), form of ἀναχάσκω (anakháskō, “open the mouth”) < ἀνα- (ana-) + χάσκω (kháskō, “gape, yawn”) + -ιάζω (-iázo).[2] Italiot Greek αναχαννίζω.[3]
