Etymology
[edit]An instrument name in -τρον (-tron) without explanation. It may belong to λίς (lís, “smooth, even”) and λισσός (lissós, “smooth”). Comparisons with Lithuanian lýdyti (“to dig up, unearth”) and Latin līra (“furrow”) have been given up.
