[edit]Etymology
[edit]Isolated words in -έρα, like διφθέρα (diphthéra), ἀσκέρα (askéra), χολέρα (kholéra) and κυσέρη (kusérē), are likely to be loans. Theoretically, from Proto-Indo-European *krey- (“to sieve”), the same root of κρίνω (krínō, “to sieve”).
