  1. One's best man, koumbaros: the primary attendant (to the couple) in a wedding ceremony.
  2. The godfather of one's child (customarily the same person as the koumbaros).
  3. (by extension) A close friend, especially a close family friend.
  4. A folksy term of address for an unknown man of approximately the same age as the speaker.
