καπέτις
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Old Persian *kapiča- (literally “holder, something containing”),[1] whence also καπίθη (kapíthē), so a connection with κάπτω (káptō, “to gulp down”) is improbable. Others reference Sanskrit कपटी (kapaṭī, “two handfuls”), while Frisk refers to Classical Persian کویز (kawīz, “qafiz”).
