Etymology

Univerbation of an unattested Byzantine Greek *κάν πως (*kán pōs). The *κάν (*kán) is identical to καν (kan, even), and the πως (pōs) is identical to πως (pos) and used in the sense of the Ancient Greek phrase ἐάν πως (eán pōs).[1]
