Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *gʷewH- (to call, invoke, cry); probably related to βοάω (boáō, to shout) via a paradigmatic split. Cognate with Proto-Germanic *kawjaną (to call, name), Proto-Slavic *gȍvorъ (talk), Sanskrit जोगुवे (joguve, to speak out loudly).[1]
