[edit]Etymology
[edit]According to Stephanus of Byzantium, a Carian word related to γίσσα (gíssa, “stone”). Furnée compares Georgian ხრეში (xreši, “gravel”) and κίσηρις (kísēris, “pumice stone”). In any case, the word is a loan, either from an Anatolian language or from Pre-Greek.
