Etymology

Probably from Byzantine Greek απομέσα (apomésa), προς απομέσα (pros apomésa, to the inside, inside), ultimately from Ancient Greek ἀπό (apó, from) + μέσος (mésos, middle of, between, amidst).[1] Compare Greek μέσα (mésa), απομέσα (apomésa).
